  1. plead的基本含义是“辩护,恳求”,主要指答辩,即尽力地开脱某件事情,使其有利于自己,或为了达到某一目的而向别人提出要求。引申可指“以…作托词”。
  2. plead多用作及物动词,有时也可用作不及物动词。用作及物动词时,后接名词或that引导的从句作宾语。plead有时可用作系动词,后接形容词作表语。
