  1. master作名词指“控制者”时,有时也指女子。

    His wife used to be his master.

  2. make oneself (the) master of词组中,定冠词the可加可不加,但不能加不定冠词a;
  3. Master Eric Jones等类似称呼中,Master指十五六岁不到的孩子。复数形式有the Masters Jones或the Master Joneses,前者比后者更加正式。

    master一般指“精通”,是对知识而言,而没有具体“地操纵”“掌握机器”的意思。可以说master a language; 但不可说master a machine〔tractor〕等,应改为operate。
