14世纪中叶进入英语，直接源自古典拉丁语的descriptionem（为describere的词干）：de(下）+scribere(写），意为写下。
【词语用法】
- description最好少用“类型”的解释来作为kind或sort的同义词；
- 表示关于某方面的说明时，description后接介词of。

纠正：The engineer gave a description of how to use the computer to his assitant.
