sort of, of sorts〔of a sort〕
I sort of expected this would happen.
That group was a paper tiger of sorts.
sort, description, kind, nature, type
There are four basic types of blood.
How did you get this sort of ideas into your head?
He is a person of that description.
I never met things of this nature.
  • What sort of worker was he?
  • What sort of a worker was he?

  • a sort of hero
kind sort type class classification category species variety
