  1. high作形容词时,意思是“高的”“高度的”,形容高出地面或其他物体的东西,也可修饰任何比普通或一定标准高的事物,意思是“高级的”“重要的”(只用作定语)。引申还可作“极度的”“强烈的”“价值高的”“数量大的”“奢侈的”,指超过了一般的标准。
  2. high还可作“高尚的”解(一般只能用作定语),指人时表示人的思想、目标、境界很高,引申还可作“全盛的”解,作此解时,一般只能用作定语且没有比较级和最高级。
  3. high还可形容“声调很高”或“尖声的”,有时还可表示肉、食物等“过期”或“变质”。
  4. high不用于修饰人的高度,只有在与具体数量连用时,才可用high。
  5. high前可用very修饰,而其比较级higher前不可用so, quite, very修饰,只能用much修饰。
