【词语用法】
- art与science的比较：science连接的是相关的事实，强调原则性的真理，依靠的是智慧和对真理所持的怀疑。而art则指一系列的方向，达到一定的有效的效果，要求不仅仅有传统原则的知识，还要求熟练的技术。另外，science所指的事实对于所有的人，所有的形势来说都是一样的，而art所指的方向则是根据艺术家和任务有所不同。但是，有时，art会建立在science的基础上，从而导致两者的区分不明显；
- Arts是liberal arts的简称，常指语言、哲学、历史等，且以复数形式出现，如Bachelor of Arts （文科学士）， Master of Arts （文科硕士）， Faculty of Arts （文学院）；
- fine arts指“美术”，一般指绘画，建筑和雕塑等，也可以是诗歌、音乐、舞蹈和戏剧。通常人们说the arts，指得就是the fine arts；
- 大部分情况下，指什么art时，前面加the，如the liberal arts，the fine arts，the pictorial art（画术），the photographical art （照相术）等；
- 要注意得是art college指得是文学院，而不是美术院。
