  2. different常接介词from、to或than,在英语中常用different to,在美语中有时用different than,而different from英美都用。
例如:“What do you think of it?”“Well, it's different.”“你觉得这个东西怎么样?”“这个嘛,还是挺有特色的。”

different from, different than, different to
1.侧重点不同:different from侧重于不同; different than侧重于对照; different to则侧重于比较。
  • Her second book is different from her first.
  • She is different than any other girl in the class.
  • Huang Shan is different to Lu Shan, people usually say so after they visit these two scenic spots.
2.different from是标准用法,英美普遍使用; 而英式英语常用different to; different than则用于美国习语。例如:
  • That is different form what we thought. (BrE and AmE)
  • That is different to what we thought.(BrE)
  • That is different than we thought.(AmE)
在这种情况下, from不宜改成than或to。例如:
Things are very different from what they used to be.
4.有时different than后面可接that从句,这时than不宜改为from或to。例如:
They are not more different now than they were last year.
different, various
I met the old man at various times and various places.
  • Your plan is no different from mine.
  • Your plan is not different from mine.
different various diverse
