This paper recognizes 3004 monosyllabic words with 6414 senses,after examining the single character entries in A Dictionary of Modern Chinese, taking the definitions of the entries as a criterion.

• 本文以《现代汉语词典》中的单字条目为考察对象 ,以其后的用例为标准 ,认定现代汉语共有单音词 3 0 0 4个 ,词义义项 6 4 14个。
