There are a series of Meso-Cenozoic sedimentary basins,such as Anzhou Basin,Bohai Bay Basin,Laiyang Basin and South Yellow Sea Basin in the vicinity of the North Yellow Sea Basin.

• 北黄海盆地东部坳陷存在中生界含油气系统(!),主要烃源岩为上侏罗统黑色泥岩,储层为上侏罗统和下白垩统砂岩,区域盖层为始新统泥岩。
